Sadie Murphy was born and grew up in the Irish community in Birmingham, England. She lived in Germany for many years and then Estonia before moving back to Birmingham.  She devoted twenty years to the Scottish Highland cattle she and her husband rescued from slaughter. Her poetry and poetry translations have appeared in various publications inIreland, Germany and the US. Her theatre and poetry work with secondary school pupils in Germany was highly acclaimed and received the German President’s History Prize. Wandering Towards Dawn (Lapwing) is a volume of her own and Ilmar Lehtpere’s poetry.  She collaborated on the translation of Presence and Currant Beads (both Allikäärne) by the Estonian poet Mathura.
