John Dolis is Professor of English and American Studies at Penn State University, Scranton. His publications include three books of literary criticism (The Style of Hawthorne’s Gaze, Tracking Thoreau, and Transnational Na(rra)tion), four poetry chapbooks, numerous articles in literary, philosophical, and psychoanalytic journals, and book reviews. He serves on the
editorial board of the Arizona Quarterly, the Journal of American Culture, and the Nathaniel
Hawthorne Review.
